The Balkan Countries’1st International Conference on Accounting and Auditing will take place on the 8th and 9th of March, 2007 in Edirne, Turkey

Edirne is an ancient settlement in the Trakya region. Due to its location linking Anatolia and Trakya to Europe, it has a rich cultural background. Edirne is linked to Istanbul and the Balkan countries by highways. Attendees coming from foreign countries through Istanbul will be welcomed at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport by the organizing committee.

The conference venue is Trakya University Türkan Sabancı Cultural Center. The conference registration will be free of charge

Call for Papers

The theme of the conference is International Harmonization of the Accounting and Auditing Standards and Applications within the Finance Sector. Papers should examine the conference theme within the framework of the below topics:

·         The papers that address the main theme within an historical framework from the perspectives of education and application.

·         The papers that evaluate economic globalization in the world and the developments in the European Union affecting the Balkan region.

1. The official language of the conference is English. The papers must be submitted in English and the abstracts should not be over 150 words.

2. Parallel sessions will allow 30 minutes for each paper, 20 minutes for presentation followed by 10 minutes for discussion. It will be possible to use Power-Point or over-head.

3. Papers which are written in the following format should be submitted electronically to sudiapak@trakya.edu.tr until 15th of January, 2007. Notifications of acceptance will be sent until 31st of January, 2007.

4. Basic Formatting Information:

a) The first page (title page) should contain the title of the paper, authors’ names, institutional affiliations, regular addresses and e-mails.

b) Text: The basic setting should be 12 pt Times New Roman. Paragraphs should be separated by a single blank   line (1 line spacing).

c) Headings: 18 pt Times New Roman. Subheadings: 12 pt Times New Roman.

d) Footnotes should be placed at the bottom of each page and written in 10 pt Times New Roman.

e) Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively and labeled (10 pt Times New Roman).
